Attaining SDG 13: Mapping Bangladesh Scenario
This in-house seminar provides a comprehensive overview and critical assessment of Bangladesh's progress towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 13 (SDG 13), which urges immediate action to combat climate change and its impacts. As one of the world's most climate-vulnerable countries, Bangladesh's efforts in this domain are of both national and global significance. The seminar will map the current scenario by examining the key pillars of Bangladesh's climate action strategy. This includes a detailed review of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and the Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100. The discussion will evaluate the coherence and integration of these frameworks and their effectiveness in building long-term climate resilience.
The session will also focus on the challenges encountered in implementation. These include securing adequate and predictable climate finance from international sources, technology transfer for green development, and capacity building at both national and local levels. Panelists will analyze the progress in key sectors such as renewable energy, climate-resilient agriculture, coastal protection, and urban resilience. A significant part of the dialogue will be dedicated to the principle of "leaving no one behind," exploring how climate action policies are addressing the needs of the most vulnerable communities, including women, children, and displaced populations. By mapping out successes, identifying gaps, and discussing innovative solutions, the seminar aims to contribute to a more robust and effective national strategy for attaining SDG 13, ensuring that Bangladesh not only adapts to the realities of climate change but also emerges as a global leader in climate action and resilience.
