In Quest of Justice for Genocide and the Responsibility to Protect (R2P)"
The Bangladesh Institute of
International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) hosted a roundtable discussion
titled “International Response to the Rohingya Crisis: In Quest of Justice
for Genocide and the Responsibility to Protect (R2P)” at the BIISS
Auditorium.

The keynote presentation was
delivered by Professor A. S. M. Ali Ashraf, Director of the Centre for
Genocide Studies and Chairman of the Department of International Relations,

the Rohingya crisis, focusing on the pursuit of justice for genocide, the
application of international law, and the principle of the Responsibility to
Protect (R2P). He also highlighted the challenges and prospects for
ensuring accountability, protecting vulnerable populations, and mobilising
greater international support for a durable resolution to the crisis.
The roundtable brought together
academicians, policymakers, ambassadors, government officials, researchers, and
eminent scholars, who actively participated in the discussion and shared their
valuable insights. Participants underscored the need for sustained
international engagement, stronger multilateral cooperation, and effective
legal and diplomatic initiatives to achieve justice, facilitate the safe,
voluntary, and dignified repatriation of the Rohingya, and contribute to
long-term peace and stability in the region.
