Visit of the China Institute for International Strategic Studies (CIISS) Delegation on 05-10 December 2010
A five-member delegation from the
China Institute for International Strategic Studies (CIISS), led by Major
General Yan Jiangfeng (Retd.), visited the Bangladesh Institute of
International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) from 5–10 December 2010.
During the visit, the delegation participated in a day-long seminar titled “BIISS–CIISS
Dialogue”, held at the BIISS Auditorium.
The dialogue brought together
researchers, strategic analysts, policymakers, diplomats, and members of the
visiting delegation to discuss issues of mutual interest relating to
Bangladesh–China relations, regional security, evolving geopolitical dynamics,
and opportunities for strengthening institutional cooperation between BIISS and
CIISS.
The seminar featured in-depth
exchanges on contemporary strategic and security challenges in both the
regional and global contexts. Participants discussed bilateral relations,
regional peace and stability, economic and strategic cooperation, defence and security
issues, and the role of think tanks in promoting policy-oriented research and
strategic dialogue. The discussions underscored the importance of sustained
academic engagement, knowledge sharing, and collaborative research in fostering
mutual understanding and addressing common challenges.
The visit concluded with a shared
commitment by BIISS and CIISS to further deepen institutional cooperation
through regular dialogues, joint research initiatives, academic exchanges, and
continued collaboration on issues of strategic importance, thereby contributing
to stronger Bangladesh–China relations and enhanced regional cooperation.
