Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) and Department of Global Studies (GSG), Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) jointly organised a seminar titled ‘Harnessing Bangladesh’s Youth Dividend: Future Imperatives in a Changing World’ on Wednesday, 30 July 2025 at the IUB auditorium, Dhaka. H E Mr Ghanshyam Bhandari, Ambassador of Nepal to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh graced the seminar as the Chief Guest. Dr Md Nazrul Islam, Secretary (East and West), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was the Special Guest of the seminar. Ambassador A F M Gousal Azam Sarker, Chairman of BIISS, was the Session Chair of the Inaugural Session of the seminar. The seminar began with the welcome addresses of the Director General of BIISS, Major General Iftekhar Anis, BSP, awc, afwc, psc, PEng and Dr Md Shanawez Hossain, Associate Professor, Department of Global Studies and Governance (GSG), IUB. The keynote paper titled ‘Instilling Couth into Our Youth’ was presented by Dr Imtiaz A Hussain, Professor of GSG, IUB. After that, the Special Guest delivered his remarks. Thereafter, the Chief Guest delivered his valuable speech. Finally, the Session Chair, Ambassador A F M Gousal Azam Sarker delivered the concluding remarks. Senior officials from different ministries, former diplomats, senior military officials, representatives from media, researchers, academics, and students from various universities, representatives from different think tanks, and international organisations participated in the seminar and enriched it by presenting their valuable opinions, comments, suggestions, and observations during the open discussion session.
