Seminar on “Reassessing Bilateral Development Cooperation between Bangladesh and China: Post-Election Landscape”
The Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) organized a seminar titled “Reassessing Bilateral Development Cooperation between Bangladesh and China: Post-Election Landscape” at the BIISS Auditorium, Dhaka.
The seminar brought together policymakers, diplomats, academics, researchers, and development experts to examine the evolving trajectory of Bangladesh–China development cooperation in the aftermath of recent political developments in Bangladesh. Against the backdrop of shifting regional dynamics, changing development priorities, and emerging global economic challenges, participants assessed the opportunities and prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the coming years.
Discussions focused on key areas of collaboration, including infrastructure development, trade and investment, industrial modernization, energy security, technology transfer, connectivity, and sustainable development. The seminar also explored how Bangladesh and China can further enhance development partnerships in alignment with Bangladesh’s national priorities, development aspirations, and long-term strategic goals.
The event provided a valuable platform for exchanging views on the future direction of Bangladesh–China relations, identifying emerging opportunities and challenges, and formulating policy recommendations to ensure mutually beneficial and sustainable cooperation in the post-election context.
Objectives of the Seminar are:
• To assess the current state and future prospects of Bangladesh–China development cooperation in the post-election environment.
• To examine the impact of changing domestic, regional, and global dynamics on bilateral development partnerships.
• To explore opportunities for expanding cooperation in infrastructure, trade, investment, energy, technology, and connectivity.
• To evaluate the role of development cooperation in supporting Bangladesh’s economic transformation and sustainable development objectives.
• To identify challenges and policy priorities for enhancing the effectiveness, sustainability, and mutual benefits of Bangladesh–China cooperation.
• To foster dialogue among policymakers, diplomats, academics, researchers, and development practitioners to support informed policy formulation and strategic decision-making.
