The Bangladesh Institute of
International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) organised a roundtable discussion
titled “Russia's View towards South Asia and Bangladesh–Russia Relations”
at the BIISS Auditorium.
Mr. Arthur Makhlaluk of St.
Petersburg University, Russia, attended the event as the Guest Speaker.
He delivered a presentation titled “Russia's View towards South Asia and
Russia–Bangladesh Relations,” highlighting Russia’s strategic outlook on
South Asia, its evolving foreign policy priorities, and the growing
significance of Bangladesh in bilateral cooperation.
Mr. Mahbubur Rashid Bhuiyan,
Research Fellow, BIISS, presented a paper titled “Bangladesh–Russia
Relations: Bangladesh Perspective,” focusing on the historical evolution of
bilateral ties, areas of cooperation, emerging opportunities, and future
prospects for strengthening relations between the two countries.
The roundtable was attended by
academicians, policymakers, ambassadors, government officials, researchers, and
eminent scholars, who actively participated in the discussion and shared their
valuable insights. The deliberations underscored the importance of enhancing
Bangladesh–Russia cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, energy,
education, defence, technology, and people-to-people exchanges, while
addressing regional and global geopolitical developments of mutual interest.
