Choices”

The Bangladesh Institute of
International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) organised a roundtable titled “Bangladesh
in a Competitive Indo-Pacific: Managing Security, Connectivity and Strategic
Choices” on Monday, 10 August 2026.
The roundtable brought together
relevant experts and stakeholders to discuss Bangladesh’s evolving strategic
environment in the Indo-Pacific and the opportunities and challenges arising
from increasing regional competition. The discussion focused on key issues
relating to regional security, connectivity, maritime and economic linkages,
strategic partnerships, and Bangladesh’s policy choices in a rapidly
changing regional landscape.
Participants exchanged views on
how Bangladesh can navigate emerging geopolitical and geostrategic dynamics
while safeguarding its national interests and strengthening its role in
regional cooperation. Particular attention was given to the importance of connectivity,
strategic autonomy, economic engagement and a stable, rules-based regional
environment.
The roundtable provided an
important platform for informed dialogue on Bangladesh’s strategic options and
its engagement with the evolving Indo-Pacific region.
