The lecture featured H. E. Mr Yao Wen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the People's Republic of Bangladesh, as the Guest Speaker. The event brought together senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, academics, researchers, students, representatives from think tanks, media, and international organisations to reflect on the achievements of Bangladesh–China relations over the past five decades and explore future prospects for bilateral cooperation.

In his lecture, H. E. Ambassador Yao Wen highlighted the remarkable progress in Bangladesh–China relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties. He underscored the enduring friendship between the two countries, founded on mutual respect, trust, and shared aspirations for peace and development. The Ambassador emphasised that bilateral cooperation has expanded significantly in the areas of trade and investment, infrastructure development, connectivity, energy, agriculture, education, healthcare, science and technology, and cultural exchanges.

He noted that both countries have immense potential to deepen cooperation in innovation, digital economy, green development, and regional connectivity, thereby contributing to sustainable development and shared prosperity.

The lecture was followed by an interactive discussion session in which participants exchanged views on the evolving regional and global strategic environment and explored opportunities for elevating Bangladesh–China relations to new heights. Participants offered valuable comments and recommendations on strengthening diplomatic engagement, economic partnership, and academic and research collaboration.

The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and China and a shared commitment to further expanding comprehensive bilateral cooperation in pursuit of mutual development, regional stability, and global peace.
