Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) has organized a Roundtable discussion to host the US Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs, Michele J. Sison and her delegation. Other members of the delegation include: Jane Rhee, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Bureau of International Organization Affairs; Amrita Banerjee, Multilateral Affairs Officer, Office of Multilateral Strategy and Personnel in the Bureau of International Organization Affairs; and Veena Thangavelu, Political Officer in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. H.E. Peter Haas, the US Ambassador to Bangladesh also accompanied the delegation.

Four presentations were made by BIISS Experts covering the issues of ‘Bangladesh’s Aspirations and Roles in the Multilateral System’, ‘Priorities of Bangladesh’, ‘Bangladesh’s Development Diplomacy and Emerging Priorities’, and ‘Bangladesh’s Existing Collaboration in International Fora’. A Q/A session followed the presentations. In her remarks, the US Assistant Secretary of State Michele Sison praised about Bangladesh’s tremendous success in countrywide COVID-19 vaccination, ensuring food security, and Bangladesh’s contributions in peacekeeping operations (PKO), particularly women’s participation in the UNPKOs.
