Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) organised a Roundtable titled, “Geopolitics of the Bay of Bengal and the Future of Bangladesh-Myanmar Relations” on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 at the BIISS auditorium. Brigadier General (Retd) M Sakhawat Hussain, Honourable Adviser, Ministry of Shipping, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh graced the event as the Chief Guest. Ambassador A F M Gousal Azam Sarkar, Chairman of BIISS, moderated the event as the Session Chair. The event began with a welcome address from the Director General of BIISS, Major General Iftekhar Anis, BSP, awc, afwc, psc, PEng.
Dr Shamsul Bari, Chairman, Research Initiatives, Bangladesh (RIB) delivered a special remarks. Afterwards, a Panel discussion took place where Faiz Sobhan, Senior Research Director, Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) and Mr Sujan Debnath, Director (Myanmar Wing), Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared their insightful deliberation. Thereafter, an open discussion ensued on the subject matter. Followed by the open discussion, Ambassador Humayun Kabir, President, Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI), delivered his special remarks. Thereafter, the Chief Guest delivered his insightful remarks on the topic. Finally, the Session Chair delivered the concluding remarks.

Senior officials from relevant ministries, former diplomats, senior military officials, researchers, and academics, as well as representatives from different think tanks and national organisations, attended the Roundtable and enriched the discussion with their valuable opinions, comments, suggestions, and observations during the open discussion session.
