MAJOR GENERAL MUHAMMAD IMRUL QUAYES, ndc, psc

 

 

 

 

Major General Muhammad Imrul Quayes has joined the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) as the Director General on 15 December 2010.

Major General Muhammad Imrul Quayes was commissioned on 23 December 1979 in the Armoured Corps of Bangladesh Army. In his long colourful military career he served in various command, staff and instructional appointments. He served in various units, institutions and establishments. He commanded two Armour Regiments, namely 6 Cavalry and 9 Bengal Lancers. He served as the Commandant of Armoured Corps Centre and School (ACC&S).  He also worked as President of Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB). He was Instructor of School of Military Intelligence (SMI) and Armour Corps Centre and School. He also served as Director of Counter Terrorism & Intelligence Bureau (CTIB) of Directorate General Forces Intelligence (DGFI). Prior to joining this institute he was the Commander of Logistic Area, Dhaka.

Major General Muhammad Imrul Quayes participated in United Nations Peace Keeping Operation in the United Nations Observer Mission in Liberia (UNOMIL) and in Tajikistan (UNMOT) as Military Observer.

Major General Muhammad Imrul Quayes had undergone a good number of military courses both at home and abroad; namely in, Peoples Republic of China, Pakistan and USA. He has graduated from the National Defence College, Mirpur, and Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur, Bangladesh. He holds a Masters degree in Defence Studies from National University of Bangladesh. For taking part in Trainings, Seminar and other professional activities, he visited Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, China, Vietnam, Australia, Bahrain, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, UK, USA, Saudi Arabia and Gambia.

The general is married and father of a son.
