MAJOR GENERAL MUHAMMED FIRDAUS MIAN, psc
Major General Muhammed Firdaus Mian has joined as the Chairman, Board of Governors of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) on 06 July 2009.
He was commissioned in Bangladesh Army on 25 December 1977. Prior to joining his present appointment, he was commanding an Infantry Division. In his long colorful military career he served in various command, staff and instructional appointments. He commanded three Infantry Brigades and two Infantry Battalions at home and one Infantry Battalion abroad. He was Director of Infantry Directorate in the Army Headquarters. He has served as the Colonel Staff (Chief of Staff) of an Infantry Division and as a Grade One General Staff Officer (Counter Insurgency) of another Infantry Division. He was a Directing Staff at the Faculty of Defence Services Command and Staff College and also at National Defence College, Bangladesh (for Armed Forces War Course).
Major General Muhammed Firdaus Mian commanded an Infantry Security Battalion which was deployed in Kuwait on overseas employment after the first Gulf War. He also served as Defense Attaché at Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC, USA.
In his long military career, he had undergone a good number of military courses at both home and abroad. He was trained in China and also at the US Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Georgia, USA. He is a graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur, Bangladesh. He also obtained his graduation from US Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, USA.
Major General Muhammed Firdaus Mian was born in 1956. He is married and having one daughter.
